Folk afternoon with the young traditional dancers

Rotkreuz

Local sounds in the center of Dorfmatt

The popular afternoon of the Risch-Rotkreuz traditional costume group was also a success thanks to the appearance of three guest formations.

With heart and joy: performance by the Rotkreuz children’s dance group.

The Rotkreuz children’s dance group opened the afternoon of entertainment in the Dorfmatt center with a dance to the song “Guetä Sunntig mitenand” with a program that reflected the motto in both song and dance. It was interesting for the audience to see the effort with which the dancers, some of whom were still very young, mastered the step combinations. Even if it didn’t quite work from time to time, they were sure to receive applause from the audience.

This was followed by the performance of the Fyrabe choir under the direction of Claudia Aregger and accompanied by Cécile Thalmann on the accordion. The name “Chörli” can be understood literally, as young talent is a real problem, as we learned during a conversation with President Marianne Zemp. This was also confirmed by Judith Fetsch, who leads the children’s dance troupe together with Stefanie Schneider. The only boys there were her two sons. As we learned from 10-year-old Peter during the break, he felt comfortable among the majority of girls, but didn’t want to commit to further participation.

No performance without preparation

In addition to the local actors, the formations from the canton of Lucerne provided entertainment. On the one hand there was the youth dance group from Willisau, which thrilled the audience with their sometimes humorous dances. This also applies to the ten-member sailors’ choir from Sursee with their sea shanties and shanty songs. He even managed to encourage the audience to sway and sing along, although not to a sailor song, but to the well-known song “Vo Lozärn gäge Wäggis zue”.

As we learned, the dance troupe trains regularly once a week. And solid preparation for their performances is also essential for the singing sailors, as musical director Bruno Portmann told our newspaper. The troupe can be booked for all kinds of events. All performances were accompanied by the traditional costume music Rusmu.

Volunteers in action

What cannot be missed at the Trachtenchränzli is the tombola. The total of 350 prizes for the valid tickets – the majority of which consisted of food and drinks – made it clear what preparatory work was involved. This amount was only possible thanks to donations from companies and private individuals, and the association can rely on long-standing relationships. The traditional costume group can also rely on the help of its own members and that of volunteers.

“It is only thanks to such help that we are able to operate the festival economy,” said the President. At the end she thanked everyone who had contributed to the success of this year’s popular afternoon. She was honored for her personal commitment with a heartfelt thank you and a bouquet of flowers from her own members.
