The government aims to establish 25 mental health hospitals by 2025

Menen Abdel Maqsoud, Secretary-General of the General Secretary of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, said that the Ministry is currently monitoring 23 mental health hospitals, with plans to improve and increase the efficiency of several of them, as she recently opened two hospitals there. Damietta and Imbaba to fill the shortage in these areas.

They also said that the Ministry has started work on a project for a special medical city for mental health in New Alamein, where the engineering drawings have been completed and the construction work is expected to start. soon

It should be noted that Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, the Minister of Health and Population, had previously announced that work had begun on the “Sakina” Mental Health Hospital project in New Alamein, at a cost of estimated at around 6 billion pounds, and with its capacity of up to 950 beds, to meet growing needs in specific areas including addiction, autism, childcare, women, and the elderly people.
