A woman died on Saturday afternoon in Brussels, after being hit by a tram on Boulevard Barthélémy, not far from Porte de Ninove. The victim died of his injuries on the spot, the Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police reported this Sunday.
Police and emergency services were called on Saturday around 1:00 p.m. to an accident on the tram tracks along the canal. A woman was hit there by a line 51 tram. Despite the rapid arrival of emergency services, the victim died on the spot, police said.
The tram driver and two other people, in a state of shock, were taken to hospital.
An investigation was opened with the Brussels public prosecutor’s office to shed light on the exact circumstances of the accident.
