Hectic afternoon on the Ligue 1 pitches. After Lyon’s draw against Auxerre (2-2), it was the turn of Nice and Monaco to join the dance. First in the standings before the meeting, the rock club had to win today to maintain the pace and leave Paris Saint-Germain (2nd with 20 points) at bay. This was not the case, however. The Monegasques thought they were starting their match well. After a good comeback, Takumi Minamino continued his incredible effort to push his ball into the area. Breel Embolo just had to push the ball into the empty goal after an unexpected rebound (22nd). Unfortunately for Adi Hütter’s men, the video assistance intervened and refused to open the score for offside. Not discouraged, Monaco continued to push. Attentive, Embolo was on the receiving end of a good pass and finally managed to score his first goal of the match (39th, 0-1). The Nice goalkeeper was unable to do anything.

However, the match took another turn in the space of a few minutes before the end of the period. On a well-taken free kick, Evann Guessand jumped higher than the opposing defenders to regain the ball near the 6 meter mark. Shortly after the equalizer, Vanderson, already warned by the referee, pushed Cho, which created friction between the 22 players and their sidelines. The Brazilian received a second yellow card and was excluded (45th+4). Monaco will finish their match at 10. However, it will take time before Nice seizes the opportunity. Gaetan Laborde, alone against the goalkeeper, got back into the score with a shot into the left of the net (71st, 2-1). At the end of the game, ASM lost its first place (2nd, 20 points) and Nice moved up a few steps and is now positioned in 8th place with 13 points.

Montpellier continues to sink, Strasbourg in good shape
Still in the south of France, the MHSC continues to experience a nightmare in the Championship. The men of Jean-Louis Gasset, freshly arrived on the Montpellier bench for a new rescue mission, lost again heavily against Toulouse (0-3). The match very quickly turned against the Pailladins . From the 5th minute of play, Joshua King managed to give a ball to Zakaria Aboukhlal, who scored with a shot near the opponent’s cage (0-1). Andrey Santos, in good form this evening, opened the scoring (17th, 1-0) then scored a double (57th, 2-0). Dilane Bakwa in turn made his contribution, on a nice pass from Diego Moreira, and scored the 3-0 goal in the 74th minute. Bahereba Guirassy narrows the gap for the Canarieswithout impacting the final turn (83rd, 3-1). The Alsatians continue their good start to the season, and are in 8th place with 13 points. For its part, Nantes lost one place and found itself in 12th place with 10 points.
