Maestre, “deceived” by a “misogynist” who seemed like “a good boyfriend”, calls to eradicate machismo “no matter who falls”

The leader of Más Madrid in the City Council and co-spokesperson of the political party, Rita Maestre, has broken her silence in a harsh letter on social networks, after learning of several complaints from women against Iñigo Errejón, who was her partner for several years. She has confessed to being “deceived” by a “misogynist” like Íñigo Errejón, who seemed like “a good boyfriend,” and has called for the eradication of sexist behavior, “no matter who falls.”

Maestre conveys his “respect and support” to all women in a statement in which he opens up to speak publicly about his personal life given that a part of it has been exposed for days. “As everyone knows, Íñigo Errejón and I were a couple for several years and, although we had been estranged for a long time, everything that has come to light this week overwhelms and especially shocks me,” he says.

“He was a normal-looking person.”

Now she is discovering “some of the episodes of misogynistic behavior and violence reported by the victims, which happened when the aggressor was my partner.” “He was a normal-looking person, a ‘good boyfriend’, but he was at the same time a misogynist who returned home normally after attacking a 20-year-old woman in a hotel,” he condemned.

The leader of Más Madrid will offer a press conference tomorrow in which she will give more details of the writing. Maestre emphasizes that “feminism has taught us a long time ago that the aggressors that are usually presented as exceptional monstrous beings are a father, a brother, a co-worker or your ex-partner.” In this sense, she points out that she will continue working to eradicate machismo because she does not understand how “each of the people who have shared parts of our lives with him could not see that we were facing someone with multiple faces.”

The politician admits that several complaints that are coming to light these days occurred when Errejón and she were still dating. Hence, she encourages the victims to continue reporting, since she feels “deeply deceived” by her partner.
