Córdoba shines on the stage of health innovation • Canal C

The Ministry of Health of the province of Córdoba has been awarded a special mention by the Argentine Chamber of Medicinal Specialties (CAEMe) in the recent Innovation Award, organized by the newspaper La Nación. This recognition highlights the provincial government’s effort to strengthen the health research ecosystem, promoting not only scientific development, but also collaboration between the public, private and academic sectors.

One of the pillars of this recognition is the launch of the new Human Health Research and Innovation Cluster, which has been established as a key space to promote clinical research and encourage the creation of value in the sector. Through a regulatory update and the development of platforms that accompany these processes, the province seeks to attract investments and generate qualified employment.

During the award ceremony, the Secretary of Health of Córdoba, Carlos Giordana, received the distinction on behalf of Minister Ricardo Pieckenstainer. Giordana expressed his gratitude and emphasized the importance of continuing to promote clinical research as an engine of development for the province: “Córdoba can position itself as a regional leader in research, and that translates into new therapeutic alternatives and job creation”.

Collaboration between different sectors is essential for the advancement of health research. In this sense, the panel titled “Clinical Research, Engine of Development”, which took place during the event, addressed the impact of research on the economic and social development of the country. Prominent figures participated, such as Rogelio Pizzi, dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the National University of Córdoba and designated president of the Human Health Research and Innovation Cluster.

Pizzi highlighted the crucial role of the academic sector in this process, highlighting the advances in regulations that allow improving the training of human resources and attracting investments. In Argentina, 47% of investment in clinical research goes to health institutions, with Córdoba concentrating approximately 6% of this research.

The Argentine Chamber of Medicinal Specialties (CAEMe), with 99 years of experience, has established itself as the first entity in the sector in Latin America. Made up of 41 pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies from different parts of the world, CAEMe is dedicated to the research and development of innovative medicines. The associated companies generate direct employment for more than 9,000 people in the country and operate 12 production plants, which represents a significant impact on the local economy.

With a firm commitment to ethics, CAEMe establishes a Code of Good Practices that guides the promotion of pharmaceutical products and the interaction with health professionals, patients and medical organizations.
