Gyeongbuk Province Governor Lee Cheol-woo visits three Central and European countries: National Safety Newspaper

Gyeongbuk Province Governor Lee Cheol-woo will visit three European countries, including Switzerland, Austria, and Germany, from the 26th of this month to the 2nd of next month.

This visit will explore ways to develop tourism in Gyeongbuk and carry out various activities to strengthen its international status and expand global cooperation.

The first itinerary of this trip begins on the 26th with departure from Incheon to Zurich, Switzerland. After arriving, they will attend a dinner hosted by the Korean Ambassador to Switzerland, listen to the latest European situation and major Swiss issues, and seek ways to exchange economic and tourism-related issues with Gyeongbuk.

The next day, the 27th, we will meet with Jungfrau Railway Company officials in Interlaken to discuss ways to cooperate in the tourism industry, and then visit the tourism industry site in person.

Interlaken is a small city with a population of about 6,000, but it is also a tourist metropolis with over 1 million tourists annually.

In the afternoon, there will be a meeting with the Korean delegation of global pharmaceutical company Novartis to discuss ways to cooperate in the pharmaceutical and bio industries.

The next day, on the 28th, an investment MOU signing ceremony between Gyeongbuk Province and Novartis will be held in Basel, which is expected to greatly contribute to the development of Gyeongbuk’s bio industry.

On the afternoon of the 28th, they will move to Vienna, Austria to hold a Gyeongbuk tourism promotional briefing, and on the evening of the same day, they will attend the opening ceremony of the World Korean Business Convention.

At the opening ceremony, an MOU will be signed between Gyeongbuk Province, Andong City, and the World Korean Trade Association to successfully promote the World Korean Economic Conference to be held in Andong next year.

The next day, on the 29th, he will give a keynote lecture on the topic of ‘Korea becoming a world-class country through the power of overseas compatriots’ at a forum hosted by the Korea ESG Society.

At this event, we present a development plan utilizing science and technology and the Korean Wave as a proposal for Korea to become a world-class country.

In addition, the province’s international network will be strengthened through a luncheon meeting with Gyeongbuk Province’s overseas advisory committee members, and cooperation plans with overseas businesspeople will be discussed through the World Okta business conference and businessperson meeting.

On the 30th, we head to Germany, the last country we visit on this trip. As part of our first schedule in Germany, we plan to visit the Mother Center and the Immigration and Refugee Agency in Frankfurt to find ways to reflect it in Gyeongsangbuk-do’s policies.

The Mother Center is a representative German policy that has solved the problems of low birth rate and aging through joint childcare. Through field visits, the Mother Center plans to explore ideas and cooperation measures needed to strengthen Gyeongbuk Province’s family welfare policy and local community support system. .

The visit to the Immigration and Refugee Office benchmarks Germany’s immigration and refugee policies to find ways to solve Gyeongbuk Province’s population problems and apply them to social integration policies.

On the 31st, a 60th anniversary event will be held in Duisburg to commemorate former President Park Chung-hee’s visit to Germany in 1964.

Prior to the event, Governor Lee Cheol-woo will visit the place where President Park met with the miners and nurses dispatched to Germany and gave a speech, and will hold a luncheon meeting with the miners and nurses dispatched to Germany at the Korean Cultural Center (Miners Dispatched to Germany Memorial Hall) in Essen.

At this event, we plan to hand over plaques of gratitude to the miners and nurses dispatched to Germany and watch a video expressing their gratitude.

The delegation then visits Duisburg City Hall and holds a meeting with the mayor. At this event, we plan to hand over a plaque commemorating the 60th anniversary of the anti-aircraft era produced by POSCO and propose its installation at the speech venue.

This was promoted by promising to produce a commemorative plaque through consultation with the city of Duisburg’s working-level staff and deliver it to the mayor, and then the city would obtain consent from the council and proceed with administrative procedures for the installation of the plaque.

Through this, the administrative foundation was laid so that the symbolic installation of a commemorative plaque commemorating the 60th anniversary of the German defense system could be officially installed.

In addition, Governor Lee Cheol-woo (tentative name) Park Chung-hee is located in the park under Duisburg jurisdiction. Garden adjustments are also suggested. As with the installation of the commemorative plaque, the city also promised to proceed with follow-up procedures.

On this evening, an event commemorating the 60th anniversary of President Park Chung-hee’s visit to Germany and a National Day reception will be held in conjunction with the main branch of the Korean Embassy in Germany (Consul General Heo Seung-jae, head of the branch).

Key German political and diplomatic officials, mayors (deputy mayors), and representatives of the Korean Association in Germany are expected to attend the event.

Lastly, on November 1st, on the way from Duisburg to Frankfurt to return to Korea, we plan to visit Chancellor Adenauer Memorial Hall, visit the Rhine River development site, and benchmark the development of the Nakdong River.

This trip to three European countries is expected to be an important opportunity to strengthen Gyeongbuk Province’s tourism, economy, bio industry, and global network.
