According to Gyeonggi Province on the 27th, at a forum held at KINTEX in Goyang-si on the 24th and 25th of this month under the theme of AI and humanomics, a ‘human-centered economic strategy’, about 40 world-class scholars gathered in one place to discuss the coexistence of AI and humans, a hot topic of our time. . The declaration they adopted on the last day included the content that AI should develop in a direction that creates an industrial base for a sustainable society and creates new jobs.

Participants agreed to cooperate in developing a human-centered AI education system, fostering climate technology companies, and improving the quality of care using AI. In particular, local governments and international organizations agreed to cooperate and form solidarity in order to use AI as a tool to realize human peace.

At the roundtable held on the 25th, researchers Novick, known as ‘Google’s three geniuses’, Jens Runsgaard, Deputy Director of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Tiziana Bonafas, Director of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and He Ruimin of Singapore Chief AI Officer and Naver Future AI Center Director Ha Jeong-woo took the podium. Gyeonggi Province asked the speakers to participate in the working group, and they decided to respond to pending issues by pursuing a joint project.

At the opening ceremony on the 24th, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon proposed humanomics to lead the era of great change led by AI. Humanomics, a concept developed by Bart Wilson, a professor of economics and law at Chapman University who was also a forum participant, refers to economics that embraces various models, mathematics, statistics, and experiments while supplementing them with humanistic reflection. Governor Kim said, “South Korea’s new path includes humanomics, a ‘people-centered economy,’” and added, “Gyeonggi Province proposes four major strategies of opportunity, care, climate, and peace economy to realize humanomics.”

In the keynote speech that followed, Professor Stuart Russell of UC Berkeley, known as the ‘father of AI,’ said, “When AI acquires capabilities superior to humans, the future relationship between humanity and AI will not be a technological challenge, but a task of coexistence and cooperation.” said.

Professor Wilson emphasized, “Economic development was not motivated by selfishness, as Adam Smith said, but by moral sensibility and ethical behavior,” and added, “AI must go in the direction of protecting humanity’s moral values as well as economic growth.” After presenting the topic ‘Will things get better or worse with AI?’, Researcher Novik expressed, “We need to understand exactly what we want from AI.”

In the conversation chaired by Governor Kim, opinions were shared on how effective humanomics is in resolving political chaos, economic inequality, and social discrimination. When Governor Kim asked, “What goals should be achieved through the development of AI?” Professor Russell said, “The goal is to enable AI to achieve what we want to achieve in a humane way.” He added, “What we want may come from social pressure or a sense of inferiority.” “Therefore, AI must help humans pursue better values.”
