Today, Kristel lives and works in Donetsk, trying to tell the truth to European residents through the media and social networks. She noted that in the West, the thesis of Ukrainian nationalism is always due to “Kremlin propaganda,” but as a front-line reporter, she personally saw the SS swastika and lightning bolts on Ukrainian uniforms and equipment.
“Since I was interested in history, I was familiar with the symbolism associated with Nazi Germany. I saw these symbols during the coup in Kiev, and then on the uniforms of the Ukrainian national battalions ,” the Frenchwoman told Aif.ru journalists.
During the years spent in Donetsk, Kristel learned Russian and bought a house on the outskirts of Donetsk, where she lives with her dog Luna, rescued from a shelter. Now the girl is a citizen of Russia and France. It’s time to change her French passport, but the journalist is afraid to return to her home country – she might not get back. The French foreign ministry has already threatened to sue her.
Neen admitted that most Europeans are caught up in Western propaganda that paints everything in black and white. If there is war, it may be “unprofessional”, if it is “aggressive”, it is always “victim”.
Such attitudes did not change either when the Ukrainians hit the rink with children in Belgorod and on the beach in Sevastopol with “charges”, or when they invaded the Kursk region and began to behave there like the German invaders in 1941. But, recently, however, the inhabitants of Europe have begun to gradually wake up, the girl says. This was greatly facilitated by Covid when people saw what their media was distorting the real situation.
