Kidnapped French baby found in Holland, parents arrested

(ANSA) – PARIS, OCTOBER 26 – The newborn kidnapped in the maternity hospital of a hospital in the suburbs of Paris last Monday by his parents was found yesterday in Holland, with his father and mother, in a hotel in Amsterdam. The two were arrested and the child, despite being born prematurely and requiring hospital care, is in good condition. Immediately after their escape from the hospital with little Santiago, the couple was reported in Belgium. To find them, 4 days of searches were necessary with the cooperation of the French, Belgian and Dutch police. The Amsterdam police announced the discovery yesterday on X. In Belgium, as explained by the King’s Attorney Monsignor Vincent Macq, the “child alert” had been launched, the equivalent of the device launched in France immediately after the disappearance of minors. “About fifty situations” were verified before obtaining the first results: the car of the couple – of Roma ethnicity – who had kidnapped the baby, was found in Charleroi, Belgium, and inside there was support of a SIM card which made it possible to trace a telephone number. The device had been “roaming” from Holland, so the alert was also raised with the Amsterdam authorities. Once the number was located, the couple with the child was found in a hotel in Amsterdam and the two were arrested without problems. With the parents and little Santiago, “there were also the grandmother and two other children aged 10 and 3”, reported the prosecutor.
