After the success of Flowers above hell of 2023, the commissioner Teresa Battaglia returns to investigate a new, intricate and mysterious case, in the heart of the Friulian mountains of Val Resia.

The second season of the TV series, entitled Sleeping nymph – The cases of Teresa Battagliain three episodes, is broadcast on Rai 1 starting from Monday 28 October 2024with the first episode available from Saturday 26 October on RaiPlay.

The body of the young policewoman Marta Trevisan is found lifeless, and everything seems to indicate suicide: a gunshot to the heart. But Teresa Battaglia, intuitive and tenacious, senses something disturbing and is convinced that it is a disguised murder.

Marta, shortly before her death, was looking for the truth about her father, accused of killing his lover Hanna, originally from Val Resia. During the investigation, Teresa discovers that Marta owned a painting lost over time, the Sleeping Nymph. And enigmatic and disturbing portraitpainted with human blood, portraying a young woman with an ethereal face, whose name has been lost to history.

But what is the connection between Marta’s death and the portrait of this woman killed in 1945? Which dark secrets did he bring this painting with him, so much so that it transformed Marta’s search for truth into a deadly labyrinth? Teresa, immersed in a plot full of enigmas and shadows from the past, will have to untie all the knots to get to a truth that has been buried for decades.

This is the common thread of Sleeping Nymph – The cases of Teresa Battagliaa TV series based on the novel of the same name by Ilaria Tuti, which promises to keep the audience in suspense, wrapped in the mystery and cruel beauty of the mountains.

Where it was filmed: the locations

The three new episodes of the compelling TV series were filmed between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, with interior shots in Rome, while, as regards the exterior scenes, the backdrop is fascinating locations of the Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Here’s what they are, starting from Malborghetto-Valbruna: beautiful mountain resort not far from the ski resorts of Tarvisio, at the foot of the Julian Alps, it is the perfect destination for excursions, snowshoeing and trekking.
