The pair (184.30 points) were just 1.84 points behind the Australians Anastasia Golubeva and Hektor Giotopoulos Moore (186.14) in third place. Victory at the second stop of the highest international competition series in figure skating went to world champions Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps from Canada (197.33). Yekaterina Geynisch and Dimitrij Tschigirev from Uzbekistan came second (189.65).

Hocke and Kunkel will next compete at the NHK Trophy in Tokyo (November 8th to 10th). The world’s six best couples in the Grand Prix series qualify for the final in Grenoble at the beginning of December. In the previous season, the Berliners had to cancel their participation due to injury. Germany’s top pair Minerva Hase/Nikita Volodin did not start in Halifax, but the World Cup third-place finishers will start at the Grand Prix de France in Angers (November 1st to 3rd).
