Ocheon Square opening ceremony on the 1st of next month
2,025 largest drone show ever
On the 1st of next month, Suncheon City will decorate the fall night with the largest-ever drone show, with 2,025 drones flying over the 60,000 pyeong Ocheon Green Square.
This drone show, which is part of the opening ceremony of the ‘2024 Global Content Festival in Suncheon’ (hereinafter referred to as Content Festival), breaks the general framework and is produced with a concept using webtoon and animation ‘characters’. The official event begins at 7 p.m. on the 1st, and the character drone show will mark the finale of the opening ceremony.
This drone show, which is being presented for the first time in Suncheon, is already attracting the attention of citizens as it is said to fill the sky over Ocheon Green Square with various characters such as ▲Dooly the Baby Dinosaur ▲The Foreigners of Fear (Wandering Magpie) ▲Finding Wally.
In particular, Dooly, who is colored like a green garden, will show dynamic movements by waving his hands to his OST, as befits a K-legend animation. Spinyfish, the mascot that appears in ‘Baby Dinosaur Dooly Ice Star Adventure’, is also expected to make a surprise appearance and capture the attention of the audience.
In addition, against the background of Suncheon’s sky, the ever-changing characters are presented one after another over a period of 13 minutes.
Suncheon Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu said, “The content festivals we’ve been through all along have been all about meeting characters who were locked up in standardized places, but this time is different. We brought together all the content, including webtoons, animations, and characters, in the garden.” He continued, “We are planning to create a festival reminiscent of a fairyland, with content coming out of the garden and even into the sky, so we hope for a lot of interest and participation.”
Meanwhile, the content festival, which is about to open, will be held in the area of Ocheon Green Square from the 1st to the 3rd of next month. Unlike other content events, the festival is prepared so that you can enjoy a variety of content such as animation, webtoon, and characters that come out of the indoors and into the green garden. We plan to do our best. There will be an OST performance sung by Solji, Ahn Ye-eun, and Kim Kyung-ho, as well as a character exhibition and sales zone and invited speakers (writer Tae-ho Yoon and director Eric Oh).
In particular, the hot air balloon ride experience that allows anyone participating in the festival to view the top of Ocheon Green Square is attracting attention. The experience is free and requires on-site registration only. Each session, families (4-5 people) can enjoy the view of Dongcheon and the garden from the sky above Ocheon Green Square for about 10 minutes. The hot air balloon experience is divided into three time slots: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., and the boarding time and number of people may change depending on the wind speed and weather on the day.
