Patrick Lange secured his third victory in the triathlon mecca. The three starters from Bremen felt how brutal this supreme discipline race is.
Patrick Lange had happily distributed hand kisses as he crossed the finish line on the famous Ali’i Drive when he clinched his third victory with a mighty primal scream at the Ironman World Championships in the triathlon mecca of Hawaii.
He completed 3.86 kilometers of swimming, 180.2 kilometers of cycling and 42.2 kilometers of running and Lange achieved this with a new course record time of 7:35:53 hours.

Even a jellyfish bite couldn’t stop 38-year-old Lange on the Big Island. But the three starters from Bremen also felt how brutal this supreme discipline in triathlon is. A total of around 2,300 participants in different age groups had to overcome 307 meters of altitude when running and even 1,772 meters when cycling.
The Ironman takes all athletes to their limits and beyond. Rainer Koschke and Marc Putzke from Triathlöwen Bremen eV as well as Oliver Reinicke fought their way across the finish line when Lange had long since finished with the winner’s interviews and started the celebration. Reinicke (age group 35 to 39 years) crossed the finish line in 200th place out of 249 starters in 10:54:25 hours.
Koschke (age group 55 to 59 years) completed the Ironman as 93rd out of 277 starters in 11:29:59 hours. Putzke (age group 40 to 44 years) completed the Ironman in 263rd place out of 304 starters in 11:40:52 hours.
