In six years, Tom Hardy has succeeded in making the adventures of journalist Eddie Brock and Venom, his symbiote, a resounding success, with the first two feature films having grossed more than US$1.3 billion. Today, the actor, co-writer and producer is preparing to put Spider-Man’s enemy in the closet. Or not…
Since Sony Studios owns the rights to the Spider-Man Cinematic Universe (UCS), it made sense that they would want to try to get a piece of the massive Marvel movie revenue pie. In this spirit, and from the design of the first Venomthe objective was to focus on the villains who populate the universe of Spider-Man, now played by Tom Holland.

A unique role…
Venom, enemy of Spider-Man, therefore took on the features of Tom Hardy in 2018 with the first feature film of the trilogy. In the new, and last, The last danceEddie/Venom is chased by the minions of Knull, the alien creator of the symbiotes. Obviously, the American army is also after him in the person of Rex Strickland (Chiwetel Ejiofor). And Brock and Venom (Tom Hardy) therefore embark on a kind of road trip across the United States.
“The voice of Venom is the one I use when I pretend that my dog is talking to me,” Tom Hardy told the American media during the promotional tour for Venom: The Last Dance.

“That voice is a mix of Busta Rhymes, Method Man, James Brown, a little bit of Richard Burton. I also added stoicism to all this as well as an element of grandiloquence and another of hope. I’m also a huge fan of hip-hop and Busta Rhymes is the personification of emphatic quality [de la voix de Venom]“, he detailed.
One very last time
If Kelly Marcel has been scripting the adventures of Venom since the first feature film, her role has evolved considerably over the years. The 50-year-old Briton, who made her debut as a child star and found success with the screenplay of Sauvons M. Banks, was a producer of Venom: it’s going to be carnage (2021). And this time, and for the first time in her career, she held the cameras.

“I wanted to film the scenes in order,” she said. I found this important insofar as it is a road trip and that The last dance follows a story arc. It’s very complicated to film in order and we succeeded in doing so for the vast majority of scenes.”
Since filming took place in sequence of the film’s scenes, the last day on set was reserved for the final moments of Brock and Venom’s journey.
“I don’t like goodbyes,” Tom Hardy said. I don’t like the finality of a goodbye. We work together, we are a tribe, I love my job and so I don’t like to think about the fact that this is the last scene.”
And Kelly Marcel confided what she had done before the final clap.
“During filming, Tom wore an earpiece, and so did I. For the last scene, I played the song Into the Mystic by Van Morrison. And I must admit that I felt a lot of emotions.”

The next UCS villain?
After the resounding failures of Morbius et Madame Webrespectively the third and fourth UCS films, the universe is preparing to welcome another character, that of Kraven. Because Kraven the Hunterdirected by JC Chandor, arrives in theaters on December 13. And, in the role, the strong muscular Aaron Taylor-Johnson is already making fans excited.
Venom: The Last Dance hits theaters with humor from October 25.
