Parents of the 43 ask Sheinbaum to resume dialogue and investigations

Mexico City. On the first day of Global Action for the disappearance of the 43 Ayotzinapa normal students, in the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum, mothers and fathers of the young people called on the president to fulfill her commitment to meet with them to take up the case and progress in investigations.

They recalled that last July the president agreed with the families to hold a meeting once she took office, but 26 days before the inauguration there is no “any approach or probable date.”

After leaving the Angel of Independence to the Antimonument +43, in a rally marking 10 years and one month since the disappearance of the normalistas in Iguala, Guerrero, Mario González, father of César Manuel, considered that “the due time has passed.” ” to resume the dialogue “and know what (the President) really thinks about the Ayotzinapa case, so that she does not come out with the idea that she also believes that the Army is innocent, that it did not participate” on the night of September 26 and early morning of September 27, 2014.

He also emphasized that families “do not want to have any meeting with a public official other than the President.”

Also, González announced that in the next meeting with the head of the Executive they will ask for “an answer” regarding the appointment of Omar García Harfuch as Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, who in 2014 was commissioner of the Federal Preventive Police in Guerrero.

In front of normal students and members of popular and indigenous organizations, Isidorio Vicario, one of the lawyers for the families and the Tlachinollan Mountain Human Rights Center, stressed that in the 10 years and one month of struggle, “the parents and “Mothers have shown that they have no other interest other than knowing the whereabouts of their 43 children.”

María de Jesús Tlatempa, mother of José Eduardo Bartolo, assured that the families will continue “in the fight and firmer than ever in the demand for the appearance of our children alive.”

Also, the fathers and mothers of the students called on citizens not to destroy the Antimonument +43 or the memorial with the photographs of the normalistas, the latter installed on September 26 and which has already been damaged.
