NHL: the Flyers give up one of their top prospects

The Philadelphia Flyers announced this morning that they had returned prospect Jett Luchanko to his junior club. The only 18-year-old forward will therefore join the Guelph Storm in the OHL.

Drafted in the first round, 13th overall, in the last NHL draft, Luchanko represents a top prospect for the Flyers. He just celebrated his 18th birthday last August.

His impressive performances at Flyers training camp allowed him to appear in four games with Philadelphia this season. He failed to blacken the score sheet. Last year, the center from London, Ontario scored 74 points in 68 games with the Storm. He will therefore continue his internship in junior for at least another season.

The Flyers also announced that defenseman Cam York will be out for a minimum of two weeks due to an upper body injury.

Drafted just before a certain Cole Caufield in the 2019 NHL draft, York is not necessarily having the start to his career as several experts predicted.

However, in 82 games last year, the 23-year-old defenseman collected 30 points.

The Flyers won their game earlier today by a score of 7-5 against the Minnesota Wild. Matvei Mitchov got on the scoresheet again. He now has nine points in eight games.
