What are the future prospects for civil protection?
The federal government and the cantons want to better communicate when it comes to protecting the population. The federal representatives now visited the canton of Uri.

As part of the series of working visits to the cantons that began in July, Michaela Schärer (Director of the Federal Office for Civil Protection (BABS), Gerald Scharding (Deputy Director/Head of the National Alarm Center and Event Management Division), Claudia Geiger (Head of the Legal and Political Business Department) and Dennis Rhiel (Deputy Head of Communications) visited the canton of Uri. The focus was on information about current civil protection projects and the cooperation between the BABS and the canton.
Government councilor Céline Huber and head of office Urs Mock received the delegation from Bern to discuss, among other things, fundamental common concerns in the area of federal crisis management, the support of civil defense, as well as the preservation of value and further development of protective buildings. Information about current projects in the area of security communication and the realignment of the coordinated medical service were also on the agenda.
The BABS’s working visits to the cantons aim to intensify the exchange and develop further sustainable solutions to the challenges in Swiss civil protection. (zvg)
