/ world today news/ The wife of one of the richest people from Plovdiv until a few years ago – the construction entrepreneur Dimitar Bekriev, sells martenichki in the city center – in front of the post office, reports podtepeto.com.
Pretty Elena Bekrieva trades Pijo and Penda among dozens of competitors in the traditional bazaar for red and white threads. She has clearly fallen from another universe to the hard ground of the square, where people fight for every customer and every penny, the regional site commented.
Only a few years ago, when Bekriev’s “Regnis” empire owned half of Plovdiv and was perhaps the strongest entrepreneurial company in the area, the family lived in luxury.
The businessman had extremely warm relations with the epoch-making mayor Ivan Chomakov, under whose mandate he was able to take 30 acres in Thrace, the “Hristo Botev” cinema and other appetizing properties.
Now apparently Elena and Dimitar are trying to start over. He is looking for buyers for his many frozen projects, most of which are in the hands of the banks, and she is looking for an alternative.
The large-scale business of Dimitar Bekriev stalled at the beginning of the crisis, after he threw himself into building an illusory dream – a mega hotel on Tsigov chark with a ski complex there. The concrete still hangs on the rough construction of the Batak Dam, clearly visible as the fantastic track of the low scat passes through its lobby and ends almost at the bank of the reservoir. However, the dream jumped over the bank and sank into the waters of the dam.
