The latest projections introduce some surprises about the possible cold weather on the way
We have been talking and writing about it for days possibility that the cold will break out in Italy between the end of October and the beginning of Novemberthe real one, the one with a winter flavor. Scenario confirmed or have the models taken everything back? Will this first taste of winter weather really arrive? Let’s see what the latest updated maps suggest.

This is where the cold polar currents will slide
The forecast models, in the latest projections, actually see the imminent descent of very cold polar currents onto the heart of our continent and, at this point, it is a question of understanding whether the path chosen by this freezing air mass will also cross our Peninsula. It should be noted that the main models do not agree in describing the scenarios of the coming days, however, the most reliable one (ECMWF, European Meteorological Center) actually sees the freezing air mass break away from the polar latitudes around the middle of the new week and then slide decisively over Central and Eastern Europe between Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd November. Will the cold currents be able to infiltrate Italy too? Well, precisely the most reliable model gives very interesting and in some ways surprising indications.

Cold weather coming and scenarios for Italy
The latest projections of some models, and in particular that of Central Europe, see the cold polar currents breaking into the Adriatic during the first weekend of November and decisively invading our Peninsula between Sunday 3 and Monday 4 November, thus causing a sudden and significant drop in temperatures: in short, real cold even in Italy. But what temperatures are we talking about?
Well, the real surprise is precisely the one regarding the intensity of the arriving cold: in fact, the thermal collapse could even exceed 10 degrees in just a couple of dayswith the possibility of the first night frosts and afternoon temperatures around 10 degrees, i.e. a situation that is normally observed in the heart of winter! Clearly, with still a week to go and not all the models agreeing, a non-negligible degree of uncertainty remainsbut in any case the chances are growing that the first real taste of cold will arrive already at the beginning of November.
