The offices are closed, 50 thousand remain without water for three days – Pescara

QUILLS. For another three days the taps of over 50 thousand families in the Pescarese area will remain closed. The 48 hours within which the Local Health Authority and Aca should have withdrawn the order of non-drinkable water are lengthening and become more than double due to a pure bureaucratic technicality. To explain it better, the taps of over 50 thousand families in half the province must wait for the reopening of the Arta offices which carries out water sampling since today and tomorrow, according to the company’s working calendar, the offices are closed and therefore the technicians are not carry out the withdrawals. Citizens will have to wait until Tuesday morning to find out the results of the samples that on Monday, once the laboratories have reopened, the technicians will collect from the water network fed by the Vitello d’Oro spring in Farindola. Once the samples have been taken, the local health authority takes around 24 hours to analyze the water. Therefore, on Tuesday morning, over 50 thousand people from Pescara will know whether the water that comes out of their home tap is drinkable or not.
Contamination The emergency began last Wednesday, when the complex operational unit of “Food hygiene and nutrition” of the ASL of Pescara received the results of the water sampling of 4 public fountains of the Farindola spring, in particular those positioned in Barberi district in Collecorvino, public fountain Fiorano district in Loreto Aprutino, public fountain Borgo Carmine district of Pianella and in the Salita Porta Ceca public fountain in the municipality of Spoltore. From these, abnormal levels of bacteria (intestinal enterococci) were found in the water. Via certified email, the communication of a “ban on the use of drinking water in the municipalities fed by the Vitello d’Oro spring” only began at 9pm last Wednesday. The alert has been extended to 9 municipalities in the Pescarese area: Cappelle sul Tavo (entire territory), Collecorvino (entire territory), Loreto Aprutino (entire territory), Montesilvano (Contrada Villa Carmine, Colle Arena Alta, Colle della Selva, Collevento, Macchiano, Barco and surrounding areas), Moscufo (entire territory), Penne (Contrada San Pellegrino, Contrada Colle San Giovanni, Contrada Collalto), Pianella (entire territory excluding Cerratina, Castellana, Vicenne Sud, Conoscopane, Nardangelo, Morrocino), Picciano (entire territory) and Spoltore (Villa Santa Maria, Caprara, Spoltore historic center and surrounding areas).
The reassurance Already yesterday, Aca had the first partial results of the analyzes which – after the enterococci alert – were carried out at the source and in other water networks. «The partial results have already arrived, and zero values have been found on Escherichia coli and coliform bacteria, now we are waiting for the enterococci», reassures the Aca technical manager Lorenzo Level. On Monday, the local health authority will carry out water samples from public fountains in all nine municipalities affected by the ordinance. The response will arrive within the next 24 hours. According to what was communicated by the ACA managers in recent days, the anomaly in the values is due to the normal pollution that public fountains (not running water) usually collect, without excluding the drought and heavy rains which have affected the purity of the water. water from the Vitello d’Oro spring.
