Lawyers Open Front To Protest Against Increase In Stamp Duty – Rampur News

Rampur/Swar. There is tremendous anger among lawyers and document writers due to increase in stamp duty after the implementation of the new circle rate. According to the lawyers of Sadar Tehsil, where stamp duty of Rs 2 lakh was levied on 10 bigha agricultural land, now stamp duty of Rs 8 lakh is being levied. After this, most of the deeds have been stopped. In Swar tehsil, lawyers protested by burning copies of the new stamp duty list and started an indefinite strike.

Advocates and document writers of Sadar Tehsil protested against the new stamp duty. The lawyers further protested by abstaining from registration work in their chambers. A memorandum regarding stamp duty was given to SDM Sadar Monica Singh. During this, Bharat Puthiya Advocate, Pradeep Saxena Advocate, Rajkumar Advocate, Mohammad Tahir Advocate, Abhishek Saxena Advocate, Shahzad Advocate, Mukhtar Ahmed Advocate, Amit Notiyal Advocate, Bhura Ali Advocate, Rukhsar Advocate and other advocates were present. Whereas in Swar tehsil, lawyers associated with Bar Welfare Association and Senior Bar Welfare Association protested against the excessive increase in prices in the new circle list and raised loud slogans by protesting in front of the sub-registrar office. During this, they also protested by burning copies of the new circle rates. Later the memorandum addressed to the District Magistrate was handed over to the Deputy Registrar. Along with this, the lawyers have also started an indefinite strike. On Saturday, lawyers associated with both the bar associations reached the sub-registrar’s office and accused them of gross negligence and arbitrariness in preparing the new circle rate list. In protest, angry lawyers staged a protest at the Deputy Registrar’s office and burnt copies of the new rate list while raising slogans.

Demand to abolish new rules

While giving a memorandum addressed to the DM to the Deputy Registrar Navneet Kumar Maheshwari, the lawyers demanded to increase the limit of urban area to 0.051 hectare in the general instruction number 11 of the new list, canceling the general instruction number 12 and 15 and declaring the rates as per the previously prevalent system. General Instruction No. 19 should be canceled as it is inappropriate, General Instruction No. 22 A should increase the rate for area more than 1000 square meters to 50 percent, General Instruction No. 22 C should be amended to determine the rates according to the width of the road and classified roads should be made. There is a demand that the segment should be completed apart from the main roads. During this, Bar Welfare Association President Shakeel Ahmed, Senior Bar Welfare Association President Gurnam Singh Sandhu, Secretary Rashid Khan, Amar Pal Singh Rana, Rajendra Nath Goswami, Mahendra Singh Sagar, Rashid Khan, Brij Kishore Diwakar, Irshad Ahmed Mohammad Junaid, Naushad Alam, Javed Akhtar, Nadeem Ahmed, Meharban Ali, Farhat Khan, Mohammad Asif, Keval Singh, Salim Ahmed, Arif, Keval Singh, Rafiq Ahmed, Rizwan Ali, Mahipal etc. were lawyers.
