On Friday evening there was a police operation in Elmschenhagen in which two police officers had to stop an attacker with targeted shots. The man was taken to a hospital for further treatment.
At around 10:40 p.m., a patrol car crew from the 4th precinct was deployed to Bebelplatz because there was a suspicious person there. When the officers arrived, the 29-year-old was sitting on a curb, immediately jumped up after being spoken to and attacked the police officers with two knives in his hands. He did not respond to further speech, so the officers fired shots. They hit him in both legs, stopping the attack. They then treated his injuries until the emergency doctor and rescue services arrived. The police officers were not injured.
The man was taken to a hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds. He was able to leave this place that night. After a medical assessment, a medical officer decided to refer him to a specialist clinic.
The criminal police are conducting further investigations. No further information can be provided at this time.
