In a world full of fakes, let’s be real

There are various people in the world. And the stories they have are all different.

Maybe that’s why I like listening to people’s stories and stories.

That’s why I watch YouTube vlogs, read essays, and encounter diverse perspectives through books.

Among them, the person I like and remember the most is planner Sojeong Yoon, who works under the nickname ‘Souljeong’.

The thoughts she shared every month resonated with me greatly, and I subscribed for nearly a year, waiting for her posts every month. I liked the way the story approached me as if it was a release of my worries and thoughts just for me.

Not long ago, while re-reading the newsletter from February, I suddenly felt a new emotion.

In order to become authentic in your field, deep diving must become a habit.
Becoming the person who shouts out one more time when you reach your limit or critical point.

When I meet someone, I usually introduce myself as a ‘designer.’

Although it hasn’t been long since I started working in design, it’s the word that can most easily describe me.

But suddenly, I wondered if I was really a real designer. I wondered if I could introduce myself as a designer even though I didn’t have much accomplishments or portfolio to speak of.

Sojeong Yoon said ‘To become authentic, you need the habit of digging deep.’The sentence made me look back.

I felt that in order to become a person who can explain myself simply and strongly through my job, I needed deep work and sincere accumulation.

In an age where various occupations are attracting attention, why is it so difficult for me to explain myself in one sentence?

This probably means that I still lack experience and skills. There is this part of the sentence written by So-Jeong Yoon.

I think it’s more important than you think to have a firm grasp on your job before you become known as a person. Long-running people have jobs. Writer Cho Seung-yeon, critic Lee Dong-jin…

These days we live in an era where there are so many different occupations. However, IU is also an actress, but the profession she took a deep dive into is ‘singer’.

Wouldn’t having done a deep dive in that field give you the power to introduce yourself simply?
For people with jobs, the longer they accumulate, the simpler the explanation becomes.

If you feel vague about yourself, it may be evidence that you haven’t done a deep dive into your career.

I also want to become a person who can introduce myself simply and someone who understands deeply.

So now I’m going to try putting a few things into practice.

I try to break away from studying alone and interact with a variety of people. I think I can give and receive good stimulation in the process of building my skills.

✅ Thinking about what I’m good at

Now, I will practice what I can do well and clarify my expertise. I’m thinking of getting into the habit of consistently recording and reflecting on it.

✅ Find areas where you can accumulate growth

I think developing myself little by little by delving deeply into one field will be the direction I am aiming for.

It’s not finished yet, but I’m planning to add depth little by little from now on to make myself the real me.

Being real in a world full of fakes, I hope that it will remain a worthwhile goal for me for a long time.
