Conakry, Guinea – Today marks a significant step forward for the Guinean digital sector with the launch of the Huawei ICT Academy, a strategic training project carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy (MPTEN) , the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, as well as the Ministry of Technical Education, Vocational Training and Employment.

The initiative aims to equip young Guinean talents with cutting-edge digital skills, essential to meet the needs of an increasingly digitalized economy.

During her speech on this occasion, Mrs. Rose Pola Pricemou, Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy, underlined the importance of this project for the future of the country:

“It is with immense pride that we mark a crucial turning point in Guinea’s digital journey. This project, the result of a solid partnership between the Guinean government and Huawei, is part of our vision to make Guinea an essential technological hub in West Africa,” she declared.

The Huawei ICT Academy stands out not only for the diversity of the areas covered, such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and network management, but also for obtaining international certifications allowing participants to strengthen their employability, both in Guinea and internationally. By 2025, hundreds of young Guineans will be trained and have access to job opportunities in the global technology sector.

This launch echoes the numerous efforts of MPTEN, which has been working for several years to modernize infrastructure and democratize access to digital technology in rural and urban regions of the country. Under the aegis of His Excellency the President of the Republic, General Mamady Doumbouya, digitalization is placed at the heart of the national development strategy, aiming to interconnect the country’s prefectures thanks to optical fiber and to set up hubs digital accessible to all.

The Minister also highlighted future ambitions, such as the creation of regional technology centers and a digital village. “These are places where our young people will be able to train, innovate and build the digital Guinea that we all dream of,” she said, appealing to Huawei to continue to invest in the future of Guinean youth.

For the young people present, this project represents a real opportunity to become pioneers in the digital transformation of their country, as well as to build an internationally competitive Guinea. “You are the builders of digital Guinea,” concluded the Minister, encouraging young people to seize this opportunity to contribute to the sustainable and inclusive development of the country.
