Hanover. In my world, there was this one dominant theme in town this week – the Scorpions. The super band invited people to a mysterious press conference and let the sting out of the bag. At the Swiss Life Hall they announced that they would be playing a stadium concert in Hanover for the very first time to mark their 60th anniversary. This event itself had maximum event character: There were pyrotechnics, a huge screen, five good-humored world stars, happy organizers and a great presenter, Markus Kavka, who got a lot of exciting, entertaining and informative things out of the Scorpions.

After a short break, we went over to the Heinz von Heiden Arena for the photo. So far, the musicians have only been at concerts or at Hannover 96’s home games. Now their own home game. “This needs to be properly celebrated,” frontman Klaus Meine told me during one of the many interviews afterwards. Are you excited? “We are always excited,” admitted Rudolf Schenker. “It’s a different excitement. We’ll be really excited in Hanover.”

Singer Meine laughed: “Especially because of the guest list.” At a home game, of course, it would be really, really long – but there is space for almost 50,000 people in the stadium. By the way, the comment from guitarist Matthias Jabs (who turned 69 the day after the media event, all the best in hindsight!) was funny: “There will definitely be a lot of them. But in July you also hope that many people are on vacation and you don’t have too many guests.” I’m afraid that most people will plan their vacation around the concert date on July 5th. Anyway, I’ll do it.
It’s nice that he’s healthy again: Adis Ahmetović with reporter Mirjana Cvjetković in the autumnal Eilenriede.
What: Nancy Heusel
Adis Ahmetović recently had a not at all pleasant trip. I have already mentioned his illness a few times here. Just like NDR presenter Christina von Saß, he has finally beaten cancer, thank God – and just like von Saß, he spoke to me about the personal facets and the ups and downs during chemotherapy. It wasn’t just me who shed tears. Good thing there are tissues. Life is beautiful.
