American rapper Lil Durk was arrested in Florida for complicity to murder on Thursday October 24. According to local authorities, the 32-year-old artist is accused of having ordered the murder of a man in August 2022, in Los Angeles.
Originally from Chicago, Durk Devontay Banks, his real name, was detained in Broward County, Florida, without the possibility of release on bail, reports the American media Billboard.
This arrest follows an investigation into the death of Saviay’a Robinson, shot and killed on August 19, 2022 in Los Angeles. Aged 24, he was the cousin of another rapper, Quando Rondo, a long-time rival of Lil Durk and his entourage, originally targeted by this shooting.
Five members of the OTF group arrested
In addition to Lil Durk, five other members of the hip-hop group OTF (Only The Family) founded by the rapper were also arrested as part of this investigation.
According to prosecutors, these five people are behind this shooting, which was allegedly organized in retaliation for another shooting that occurred in 2020 in Atlanta, during which one of their members, the rapper King Von, lost life, at the age of 26.
According to authorities, these five OTF members also promised “musical opportunities” to the people responsible for killing Quando Rondo.
Chicago drill figure, Lil Durk became known in the early 2010s. Now a leading figure in hip-hop in the United States, the artist won a Grammy Award this year for his hit single All My Lifehad a duet with rapper J. Cole.
