Racist insults to Vinicius: those responsible for the hate campaign against the Real player arrested

A real hate campaign. Spanish police have arrested four people believed responsible for offenses, racist insults, discrimination and hateful messages against the Real Madrid player, Vinicius Junior. The events date back to the derby between Atlético and Real Madrid on 29 September, temporarily suspended in the second half due to the throwing of lighters by ultra fans of the Atlético Front at the Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois.

Racist insults and complaints

The investigation began in the week of the Metropolitano derby following three complaints filed by La Liga for some tweets on social media against the Brazilian player Vinicius. In various posts, the arrested fans incited Atlético Madrid fans heading to the Metropolitano stadium to utter racist insults towards the Brazilian, who has often been the target of similar situations in the past: an online campaign supported with the hashtag #metropolitanoconmascarillas.

Further arrests are not ruled out

The four men are aged between 24 and 26, are Atlético fans and were arrested last week. Hate campaigns on social networks are regularly prosecuted. Those arrested are accused of inciting hatred and further arrests are not ruled out, according to a statement from the Madrid Police Headquarters on Thursday.
