Overseas indie publisher Perp Games has released the Truant Pixel shooting game “Rogue Flight” will be released sequentially from today. Target platforms are PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X|S/Nintendo Switch/PC (at the time of writing this article, the Switch version has not yet been distributed). The price varies slightly depending on the platform, but it is around 2,300 yen.
Now, this work is a deep scrolling 3D shooting game. In order to restore peace from the interstellar surveillance system “Argus” that has rebelled against humanity, he boards his last hope, the space fighter Arrow, and takes on a desperate mission.
Its biggest feature is the production, which is very conscious of the 1990s anime, which was a hot topic when it first appeared. In addition to VHS noise-like effects and anime-style cutscenes, it also includes an opening theme song by Hana Itoki, and voices by Kotono Mitsuishi and Rika Fukami. Of course, not only the voice but also the text has been localized to Japanese.
Furthermore, the game’s content is overdone, from lock-on missiles that are probably conscious of anime-like “looks” to special moves such as spinning drift attacks (which, if you think about it calmly, are crazy, but important because they can be fired fairly often). It’s so packed.

So, if you’re intrigued by the video, I want you to immediately immerse yourself in the world of Tokuno created by an overseas indie… However, there are some parts of the design that are a bit quirky, so I’ll introduce a little of that in this article. Let’s keep it.
First of all, there is a secret hidden in the title “Rogue Flight”. In fact, this game is meant to be played over and over again like a roguelite game. For example, the story branches into three routes midway through, each with its own ending, but you cannot proceed to New Game+ unless you complete this route.
Now, which one should I attack, or should I wipe out both of them at the risk of not having a return ticket?
However, although the first stage is easy, it is quite difficult to fight beyond that in the default state. Even if you get additional weapons, you may drop them if you get killed. However, this changes greatly by not only improving the player’s skill to use special actions, but also by unlocking/upgrading the aircraft’s performance with the various points accumulated along the way.
Each upgrade point is tied to things like launching a drift attack or collecting missiles (this is also explained in the in-game database), so if you suddenly feel stuck, don’t just rely on your main weapon or basic aircraft operation. I recommend trying out various things and earning points while learning.
Upgrades can be set before sortieing, but in normal mode they can also be obtained from the screen after clearing a stage.
Drift attack that attacks with a booster’s light trail while rotating. Shooting gamers like reporters tend to save things like bombs for later use, but they recharge surprisingly quickly, so if you’re in trouble, use them proactively.
Also, I think many people notice this from the first stage boss, but they say things like, “In boss battles, the areas where damage can be inflicted are limited, but it’s a little hard to understand,” and “The damage zone is close to the range where you can attack the boss’s weak points, so it’s finely detailed.” There are also drawbacks such as “If you don’t adjust the position of the aircraft, you will suffer damage.” By the way, the first page demo of the PC version is available on Steam, so if you have a gaming PC, you might want to check it out.
The boss of the lava stage actually has a weak point in the area where smoke is blowing out from below, but if you don’t notice it, you’ll end up in a loop where drones just keep coming out. It’s also true that there are some strange parts about her, as her enthusiasm is biased.
Other modes that will be added after clearing the game include a more rogue-lite mode where you get bonus points instead of having no lives left, and a mode where the sound is PCM sound source-like like a retro game (really? I like it).

In retro mode, communications during missions like this also become loud and clear. Stupid and wonderful.
