The ceremonial award ceremony will take place this evening at 8 p.m Film Festival Cologne Awards took place in the Cologne E-Werk. The awards honor outstanding film and series productions as well as personalities that have set international standards.
The Film Prize NRW goes to the best production in the NRW competition, which will be announced at the awards ceremony this evening. The award winners are the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW. The prize is endowed with 20,000 euros and is determined by an independent jury.
The Film Prize Cologne This year goes to the Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck. His documentary work “Ernest Cole: Lost and Found,” which will be shown at the festival, highlights the life of South African photographer Ernest Cole, who exposed the cruelty of the apartheid system. Peck’s films often address colonialism and racism, and he has a special relationship with Germany – he completed his film studies in Berlin.
The Hollywood Reporter Award is given to the Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof awarded. In his latest film “The Seed of the Holy Fig Tree,” which will also be shown at the festival, he critically examines the political repression in his home country. Despite multiple arrests and harassment, Rasoulof remains true to his mission to highlight injustices.
The International Actors Award honors Kier’s thighone of Cologne’s most famous actors, who recently celebrated his 80th birthday. Known for his versatility, Kier has worked across an impressive range of genres throughout his career, from horror films to international arthouse productions.
The phoenix price This year goes to the New York documentary filmmaker Michael Premo for his film “Homegrown,” which gives a deep insight into the world of violent Trump supporters.
