Russian figure skating is still surviving in isolated conditions and is doing everything possible to ensure that athletes do not lose motivation. It seemed impossible to find something new after the Channel One Cup, the show jumping competition and the show program competition, but we were wrong – welcome to Figure Champions League!

Figure Skating Champions League: goals and objectives, when it starts

The aims and objectives of the competition are to popularize the figure, to increase the interest of spectators, to develop the media of athletes, to promote team spirit, to create and test a special knowledge in organizing and holding competitions in the form of sports leagues and clubs, as well as promoting sports and a healthy lifestyle. The Champions League starts on October 25 and ends on March 31.

Six teams will compete for prizes: “Altai Argali”, “Amur Tigers”, “Baikal Seals”, “Far Eastern Leopards”, “Transbaikal Pallas’s Cat” and “Pacific Steller Steller”. First, the teams are made up of 13 people (3 singles, 2 singles, 1 pair sports, 3 dance dances), after the stages of the Russian Grand Prix, each team will be left with the singles, singles and dance duets which showed the worst. results.

The following were invited to participate:

  • members of the Russian national team (seed);
  • not members of the national team, but who showed a result of at least top 12 in singles / top 8 in doubles / top 10 in dance at the final tree;
  • other skaters by decision of the organizers.

The knowledge of the members of the teams will be based on the results of the draws, which will be held at the first four stages of the Grand Prix while athletes participate in the competition. Those who have been seeded cannot join the same team, so each team will have one collection representing its discipline. The captains will be chosen by the participants themselves.

In total, the competition will have two stages – competitions (stages and Grand Prix final, Russian Championship, jumping competition) and challenges. Let’s talk about the latter in more detail:

  • 12 challenges for participants in online format (from December to March), any team member can participate;
  • 6 captain challenges in online or offline format (also from December to March), the captain participates.

For the results shown in competitions/challenges/challenges, teams get points. If none of the teams can participate in the challenge, they get 0 points.

The winner of the competition will receive 10 million rubles, the silver medalist will receive 5 million rubles, and the bronze medalist will receive 3 million rubles. Also, by the decision of the organizers, special prizes will be awarded in different categories with the value of another 2 million rubles.
