The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Rowing League, in collaboration with the Vichy Rowing Club, will organize the very first edition of the “Regions Cup” on Saturday October 26 and Sunday October 27, 2024. This unique event is the merger of two major competitions: the French Regions Cup and the European Rowing Regions Trophy, marking a new stage in the history of French rowing.
For this first edition, nearly 450 rowers came from eight French regions and accompanied by 150 staff members are expected on the prestigious Vichy lake. To this national participation is added an international dimension with the presence of a Swiss teamraising the level of competition and encouraging sporting exchanges beyond borders. Note the presence of Claire Bovésilver medalist at the Tokyo Olympic Games and 7th in Paris. She will bring her experience in 4x with the Île-de-France region. Many U19 and U23 rowers from the French team will also be present at this first regional cup.
The logistics of this event are provided by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Rowing League, with the technical support of the Vichy Rowing Club, accustomed to hosting large-scale competitions. The volunteers, officials, and all the staff involved will ensure the smooth running of the event, ensuring both the comfort of the teams and the fluidity of the races on the water.
By hosting this first edition, Vichy is strengthening its position as the flagship city for rowing events in France and Europe. The organizers hope that the Regions Cup will become an annual event, where sporting competition and team spirit will be in the spotlight.
