The preservation of learners’ health is central to the concerns of the Ministry of Pre-university Education and Literacy.
It is in this movement that he proceeded, through the national school and university health service (SNSSU), to relaunch the national campaign of systematic medical examination of students for the school year 2024-2025, after thirty a year of bankruptcy.
The Barry Diawadou primary school in Dixinn was the framework for the relaunch of this activity which was crowned with the inauguration of the institution’s hospital, this Wednesday, October 23, 2024. It was attended by representatives of the CNRD and the government.
It is an activity that is taking place in primary schools across the country. A total of 50,000 students are affected by this campaign.
The approach contributes to improving the health and well-being of children, adolescents and young people at school through early detection and management of their health problems. In particular, it aims to raise awareness among these groups about their health problems, detect physical, mental and sensory deficiencies, including common and chronic pathologies, to ensure that they are protected against possible pathologies vaccine prevention, detectable care issues, among others.
In her appropriate communication, the national director of the health service of the national school and university indicated that this approach marks an important step in the protection and development of children’s health.
“Commencement is very important because it symbolizes our collective commitment to ensure a healthy and positive future for the students of our country (…). By committing to health care for students, we ensure not only their physical well-being but also their academic success.”Ms. Paulette began.
According to him, this approach will make it possible to detect and prevent many diseases in time, ensure early detection, promote good hygiene practices and encourage vaccination.
In addition, the director of the SNUSS asked that the establishment of the school hospital shows the commitment of the MEPU-A to provide a modern and modified health infrastructure to institutions.
Minister Jean Paul Cédy, for his part, highlighted the gains made by his department, especially since it is an activity that has been stopped for more than three decades.
Continuing, he will say that “The welfare of the people must be the primary concern of statesmen. From today we will examine every primary school child, which will make it possible to predict, plan and reduce future problems.” he said.
He then urged those involved in the process to have more perseverance and motivation.
“This operation is launched today, and that’s the challenge. It can’t be window dressing, it has to be sustainable. It is important that you act now. I told you earlier, this is an opportunity for you to appeal to all the players in the system so that this activity is sustainable. Remember he was broke for 30 years. It is not going to be easy to start again but you must ensure that all primary school pupils are systematically visited at least every two years, that the health and future of our country is involved.” , he suggested.
For this, the minister did not fail to be aware of the teachers’ responsibility towards the students.
“Our teachers in the classroom should stop saying this student is stupid, he doesn’t understand anything, he doesn’t know anything when we don’t know the reasons for his an obstacle? What are the reasons for his problems? They can be aware in detail, and this is where I count on you teachers to get involved and be the first warning so that we can correct this wrong we are doing to our children to correct. he concluded.
