ROMA – This morning an agreement was signed in Rome between Community of Sant’Egidio and the Joint Forces Summit Operational Command (COVI) for the sending and distribution of humanitarian aid, as well as the possible evacuations of people in danger, in the areas where Italian contingents abroad are present. While waiting to formalize the collaboration, two humanitarian missions have already been carried out in 2024 in Lebanon and Iraq with the sending of medicines and healthcare materials intended for the most vulnerable populations.
General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo. “Having Sant’Egidio as a partner – declared the Army Corps General, Francesco Paolo Figliuolo – is a feather in our cap for us due to its charisma of impartiality and passionate help to the poor”. The president of the Community, Marco Impagliazzo, for his part, recalled the precious collaboration with General Figliuolo and the commissioner structure during the pandemic for the protection of the most fragile and the humanitarian commitment of the Italian military.
