The European Parliament recommended the suspension of European funds for Bulgaria –

/ world today news/ The European Parliament (EP) adopted a recommendation for the suspension of European funds for Bulgaria, BTA reported.

The European Parliament adopted today a recommendation in which it calls on the European Commission “to adopt a decisive position with regard to Bulgaria and to seriously consider the question of whether it is at all possible to use Community funds according to the rules”.

The recommendation has no legislative value, specified a few days ago the President of the EP, Martin Schulz.

In the report on the discharge of responsibility for the implementation of the general budget of the EU for the financial year 2012, the rapporteur Markus Pieper (EPP, Germany) proposed the text in question, which was confirmed today after the preliminary approval of the parliamentary committee on budgetary control.

In item 296 of the report under the title “Lack of progress in Bulgaria” it is written that in the latest EC report on the mechanism for cooperation and verification, the commission reports “the lack of progress, the continuing strong spread of corruption and the fundamental difficulty observed in the country in distributing responsibilities and correction of errors” in Bulgaria.

With today’s resolution, the MEPs express deep concern about the EC’s assessments of our country.
