NHL – Paul Maurice continues at the head of the Florida Panthers

President of Hockey Operations and General Manager of the Florida Panthers, Bill Zitoannounced today that the club had reached an agreement with head coach Paul Maurice on a contract extension of several years. “Paul has steadfastly led our organization to unprecedented success during his relatively short tenure in South Florida”Zito said. “He is an excellent communicator and leader for our staff and players, possessing a keen strategic mind for the game. We are excited that Paul and his team will continue to build the Florida Panthers into a destination franchise for the near future.”

Maurice, 57, is in his third season as head coach of the Florida Panthers. He compiled a 98-58-15 regular season record as the Cats’ bench boss, while his 29 postseason wins (29-16) are the most in franchise history. The Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., led the Panthers to the Stanley Cup Final in each of his first two seasons behind the bench, leading the club to its first championship in 2023/24.

Maurice has served as head coach in 1,855 NHL regular season games, second only to Scotty Bowman (2,141) for the greatest number of matches in the history of the League. His 873 career victories place him fourth in history.
