The annual Building Smiles fundraiser for people with disabilities will begin

As every year, the organization Building Smiles which serves people with disabilities started the annual collection which they do in coordination with associations, foundations and related companies to raise money to continue with services.

This year’s goal is to raise 500 thousand pesos that will be used to continue implementing treatments and workshops for people with disabilities registered in the institution and continue to ensure a place for those who need it.

For this reason, representatives of the Peninsular Association Pro-Children with Intellectual Disabilities, IAP – the organization’s official name – held a press conference to invite citizens to make donations to the official pig banks that will be distributed in centers co -related such as Tere Cazola, Las Adoratitas, Tortas Jorge’s, Farmacias Bazar, among others.

Bárbara Guasch, president of the organization, thanked the state and the city DIF for their support, as well as the Bepensa Foundation and other friends to help achieve the goal of guaranteeing education and treatment for people with disabilities.

He explained that Building Smiles currently serves 100 people of all ages and disabilities, who are given opportunities for academic development and even economic development as there are also workshops focused on job search, which have get successful results.

And in the facilities of the board, located on 4th Street, almost on the corner of Street 19A, in Paseos de Vergel, there are early intervention therapy workshops with experts who can even care for babies, to shops – labor inclusion work with a focus on the adult community.

“Donating to Building Smiles invests in a part of our society that has the opportunity to be productive and not only that, it changes their life, when you help a person with a disability you are there only helping them but also everyone they are. live in the same house, everyone’s life becomes lighter,” he said.

On the other hand, Shirley Castillo, director of the DIF Yucatan, recalled that the state government, led by Joaquín Díaz Mena, is committed to addressing the needs of all types of children and recalled that last weekend was signed the universal agreement for the Pension for Persons with Disabilities, with which economic resources will be provided to those who need it from one year to 64 years of age.

Likewise, Brenda Ruz, head of the DIF Mérida, assured that the Mayor Cecilia Patrón has always been aware of people with disabilities and requested that the resources allocated monthly for the purpose this increase.

The collection starts this Tuesday, October 22nd and will be available until December 31st.
