Togo will participate in the ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Sochi from November 9 to 10.
This was indicated by Igor Evdokimov, the Russian ambassador to Togo.
This meeting, according to the diplomat, will make it possible to discuss security cooperation, economic exchanges and ‘information security on an international scale’.
Moscow has strengthened these ties with Africa in recent years. The movement has increased since the start of the military offensive in Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin is counting on the countries of the global South to limit his international isolation.
Russia seeks to establish itself as a reliable and alternative partner to Western powers in Africa.
In a geopolitical context where many African countries seek to diversify their partners, Moscow offers cooperation based on principles of non-interference and respect for state sovereignty.
This contrasts with some criticisms leveled at relations between Africa and Western countries, often seen as paternalistic or interventionist.
On the international stage, Russia has also supported the efforts of African countries to obtain stronger representation in international organizations, notably the United Nations Security Council.
