He pointed out that the Saudi Board has expanded to reach more than 170 health programs, and that the number of seats has increased since the health transformation program began 5 years ago, more than in 20 years until to reach 7,000 seats, and that 3,000 international health practitioners have received a Saudi Board to contribute to closing the global gap.
12 million people with insurance in the Kingdom by the end of 2023
He highlighted the growth in investment in the health sector, especially as the Kingdom has the highest healthcare investments in the region. Al-Jalajel said that the number of people with insurance increased from 3 million in 2011 to 12 million people by the end of 2023, estimating the size of the Kingdom’s health insurance market at 40 billion rubles, which is expected to double by 2030 .
The Minister of Health noted the growth of the pharmaceutical sector in the Kingdom at a rate of 9.3%, making it the fastest growing country in the G20, expected to reach 72 billion rubles in 2030.
He revealed that the modern health care model serves 28 million beneficiaries, which is double what was announced during last year’s forum, and with its digital branch, it provided more than 50 million virtual appointment and consultations and served more than 30 million beneficiaries.
The World Health Forum saw the announcement of the establishment of local facilities committed to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) between Seha Holding Company and Boston Oncology.
Regarding investment in human workers in the health sector, Al-Jalajel revealed two paths on which the Ministry of Health is working, the first one is specific to national workers by increasing the seats of the Saudi Board, increasing training programs and increasing nationalization programs, and the second is strengthening partnerships and attracting international talents.
During the conference accompanying the forum, titled “Investing in Health: Building a Vision for the Future,” said the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Eng. Ahmed Al Rajhi said that in the year 2024, 364 thousand male and female citizens entered the labor market for the first time. He pointed out that the Ministry, in coordination with relevant government agencies, launched 50 specific local decisions, including pharmacy, dentistry, engineering and accounting.
At the same time, the Minister of Investment M. Khalid Al-Falih said that 10% of global spending goes to health care at the rate of $10 trillion annually. On privatisation, he said the contribution of the private sector to the provision of services will increase to 22%.
