Bagnaia is hopeful he can catch Jorge Martin in Thailand and Malaysia

Phillip Island

Francesco Bagnaia failed to approach Jorge Martin after P3 in Australian MotoGP 2024. Bagnaia is confident that he can catch his rival in the next two series.

The Ducati rider only won a total of 19 points in the race at the Phillip Island Tour. Starting from fifth on the grid, Bagnaia finished fourth in the sprint and climbed to the third podium in the race on Sunday morning (20/10) WIB.

On the other hand, Jorge Martin achieved better results after collecting a total of 32 points from winning the sprint race and finishing second in the main race. Therefore, Martin is now protecting the roof to stand with a greater advantage of 10 points to 20 points over Bagnaia in second place.

Only the final three series remain in MotoGP 2024. Thailand and Malaysia will be held back-to-back starting next week, before the championship concludes in Valencia in November.

Francesco Bagnaia refused to panic after her failure Jorge Martin in Australia. Bagnaia believes it will be much faster in Buriram and Sepang.

“It feels like in Indonesia [lagi] – we were close, we lost, we were close again,” said Bagnaia Motor sports. “We will go into the next series with confidence because I am very fast on these tracks.”

“[Sirkuit di Thailand] Buriram and Malaysia suit my riding style better and I think I can be stronger – those are tracks where I’m usually faster than this.”

“We already know that it is possible to lose several points on this route. We have done our best to avoid it, but it is not enough,” he continued.

“It is true that I always get good results here, but I have never been as fast as Motegi or on other tracks. In Buriram we have a good chance to fight again. Last year we won Jorge, but we’ll see this year!” Pecco Bagnaia.

Bagnaia himself has been on the podium in Thailand ever since Ducati’s promotion, but his best result was second place in 2023. Meanwhile in Malaysia, Bagnaia won once (2022) , and was P3 in the last two editions.
