Today, the Borderlands brand is one of the biggest in our industry, and literally tens of millions of players are eagerly waiting for its next installment. However, this would not be the case if it were not for the bold and dangerous way to create the first part in 2009.
Just on October 20, 2009, the first Borderlands from Gearbox Software and 2K Games hit the market. A magical, adventurous and unique game. It was from this work that the looter-shooter genre was born, which is now very popular among cooperative gaming fans. Borderlands for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 sold 6 million copies, giving the new series a promising start, earning 84% on Metacritic.
Today, more than 87 million copies have been sold in the entire series, offering literally hundreds of hours of gameplay, and already in 2025, Borderlands 4, which preparations are underway for Unreal Engine 5, to be released exclusively for current-gen consoles. On the occasion of the anniversary of the series, the developers have a special little gift for all of us.
