Despite a strong performance and the first goal from Lukas Fridrikas, CASHPOINT SCR Altach returns from Salzburg without any points. Two goals conceded in the last minutes of the game sealed the 1-2 defeat against FC Red Bull Salzburg.
After a phase of change, the SCRA presented a new starting eleven that appeared combative from the start. Newcomers like Lukas Fridrikas and Christian Gebauer were in the starting line-up for the first time this season. Salzburg dominated at the beginning, but the Altach team were able to stabilize themselves after about a quarter of an hour and found their first offensive approaches.
In the second half it was Fridrikas who took the lead for the Rheindörflers in the 60th minute. A moment that inspired coach Joachim Ingolitsch’s team. But the luck didn’t last long: Konate equalized with a header in the 84th minute, and just a minute later Baidoo scored to make it 2-1.
Despite the narrow defeat, the SCRA can look back on a courageous performance that almost caused an upset.
