Complex path from qualification to the main draw
In the men’s individual qualification, the 32 free places in the main field are not automatically awarded to the 32 group winners. They will fight in a decisive relegation round against a drawn group runner-up for a ticket to the main round of the best 64. Andre Bertelsmeier and Fanbo Meng are favorites in their pools with three players each.
For women, the mode is adapted to the 24 groups. The winners of groups 1 to 16 are directly in the main field. The eight winners of groups 17 to 24 and the 24 runners-up play for 16 additional places. Sophia Klee and Mia Griesel were drawn into pools 21 and 22, which have four players. Elisa Nguyen is the outsider in Group 5 of three. In the men’s doubles, all three DTTB duos initially have a bye and can reach the main round of the best 32 with a win in the second round.
