Yes, there is a fourth film in the universe of The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan. An often forgotten project which links the first two films.
When we talk about Batman, it’s often Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, released between 2005 and 2012, that comes to mind. This American-British director has restored his letters of nobility to the masked vigilante, previously accustomed to rather grotesque big screen adaptations. But what we know less is thatthere is a fourth piece of the puzzle: an animated version of Nolan’s Batmanwhich links the first film, Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight, the second episode. This is Gotham Knight (not to be confused with the video game of the same name).
6 for the price of one
And more than a puzzle piece, it’s downright an anthology of six animated short films offered by Gotham Knightsall produced by renowned studios (Studio 4°C, Madhouse in particular). In doing so, the Dark Knight is depicted with six different artistic legs, in the style of the Animatrix anthology – inspired by the Matrix. In particular, we find the hero facing other emblematic enemies, such as Killer Croc or Deadshot. And the best thing about it is that it’s well done. On the reference site Rotten Tomatoes, Gotham Knight received a rating of 75% from the press and a 69% from the public.
Prolong the pleasure
A good way to complete the adventures of the bat within Nolan’s trilogy. Since the release of these three films, another director has taken over to represent the Dark Knight on the big screen: it’s Matt Reevesat the origin of the very good The Batman of 2022. A sequel is already in the works, and this new version even had the right to a series produced by HBO, centered on the character of the Penguin. She also received praise from the press and the public. Really, the DC hero still has very good days ahead of him.
