The bottles in which the hard drug was found

Police in the German state of Bavaria have arrested a 45-year-old Dutch man for allegedly selling champagne containing MDMA. Various German media are reporting this. In early 2022, a restaurant visitor died after drinking poisoned champagne.

Seven others had to go to hospital after the poisoning. Later, several bags of champagne bottles containing the hard drug MDMA were found. In both cases, they were three-litre bottles of the Moët & Chandon Ice Impérial brand. People got sick in Holland too.

Murder is suspected

The Public Prosecution Service in Germany is holding the man responsible for the export of drugs abroad. He is also suspected of murder and grievous bodily harm. The arrest was announced this week, but it already happened in June. The suspect has since been in pre-trial detention in Germany.

A year ago, a 36-year-old man from Poland was arrested in the Netherlands in the same case. He has since been released due to lack of evidence.
