In addition to topping the CSAT, Mr. Jeong also had the honor of topping the main exam from Seoul National University and graduating early at the top of his class in just seven semesters in 1998. After that, Mr. Jeong completed his master’s and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering at Stanford University in the United States. After that, he worked at major world-renowned information technology (IT) companies such as Qualcomm and Deutsche Telekom. He also worked as a management strategy consultant at McKinsey for over three years.
Then, Mr. Jeong returned to Korea in 2011 and took the position of general president and person in charge of global business development at Mobotap, the company that created ‘Dolphin Browser’. Despite many expectations that he would become a university professor, he accepted the challenge of starting a startup based on his experience at a global company.
Dolphin Browser, first released for Android in 2009, was chosen as the ‘1 most popular Android app (app)’ by CNET, an American IT media center at the time. Also, around the same time, PC World, a leading American IT magazine, also chose it as the ‘Free iPhone and iPad App of the Year’.
Mr. Jeong was appointed and works as the new IT business director (Vice President) under the Device Knowledge (DX) Division of Samsung Electronics in 2022. Since last year, he has joined the Business Planning Group Future, called ‘Chairman Jae-yong Lee’s exceptional unit.’ The Future Business Planning Group is a department directly under Chairman Lee and finds future businesses for Samsung from a long-term perspective of more than 10 years.
