For one day, Garbatella is connected to Japan. On Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 October, the Cenacoli area in via Francesco Orazio da Pennabilli 5 will host an exhibition of Ikebana compositions, the ancient traditional Japanese art of arranging flowers, created by the Masters and Students of Ikebanalab – Ikebana Sogetsu Rome. “From manga to anime, through themed markets, Hanami at Lake Eur and Japanese food and wine, Rome has a strong connection with Japan – explains Livio Buffo, CEO of Cenacoli – For this reason, we expected the places we offer something different. and inspiring: a presentation of Ikebana, an ancient art in which there are many variations and schools but perhaps still not as well known as it deserves by the general public. For enthusiasts it will be a chance to see something already known, for others it will be a chance to watch something completely new and unique.”
Ikebana is a philosophy of life, a path that encourages self-expression through flowers and plants, favoring harmony over stress: practicing this subject means learning to to observe nature closely and be inspired by its most varied events.
“According to the opinion of Sofu Teshigahara, who founded the Sogetsu school at the beginning of the last century – explains Lucia Pierelli, manager of Ikebanalab and curator of the event – Ikebana is an art form that can be used anywhere, with any material , by anyone and at any time. This weekend, we will dedicate a place in the heart of Rome completely to the Sogetsu School; Autumn will be the theme of the writings that are presented, explained according to the different themes proposed by the School. Creativity, experimentation and the development of new ideas will be the main characters in two days where meetings and discussions between ikebanists will also be possible.” The event will take place on Saturday 19 October, from 3pm to 7pm, and Sunday 20 October, from 11am to 7 p.m. Free admission.
