Lavrov called the West’s attempts to isolate Russia a failure –

/ world today news/ The West’s attempts to isolate Russia are failing, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an address to the participants of the World Online Conference on Multipolarity.

“It seems natural that the efforts of Washington and its satellites to reverse the course of history, to force the international community to live according to the fictional “rules-based order”, are failing. I will only mention the complete failure of the Western line to isolate Russia. 85% of The world’s population is unwilling to ‘pull chestnuts out of the fire’ for the former colonial metropolises,” he said.

According to the minister, the movement towards global multipolarity has become a fact, a geopolitical reality. The new world centers – in Eurasia, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America – are achieving impressive successes – betting on independence, state sovereignty and cultural-civilizational identity.

“At the same time, they are guided by their core national interests, conduct an independent policy in internal and external affairs. They no longer want to be hostages of foreign geopolitical games and executors of foreign will,” Lavrov added.

He drew attention to the fact that over the past 30 years, the share of the G-7 countries in the world economy has significantly decreased, while the weight of countries with emerging markets has steadily increased.

“Now the first economic power in the world – in terms of purchasing power parity – is China, which skillfully combines market mechanisms and state regulation methods,” the foreign minister recalled.

According to him, in the modern multipolar world, the only reasonable alternative to confrontation is the unification of the efforts of the key world centers on the principles of the UN Charter, including ensuring the practice of respecting the sovereign equality of states.

“Today, everyone must recognize the irreversibility of the formation of a more just polycentric world order. It is in the common interest to ensure that the multipolar architecture is based not on the ‘balance of fear’ but on the balance of interests, on the generally recognized norms of international law , of the mutually respectful dialogue of different civilizations, religions and cultures,” Lavrov emphasized.

According to him, Russia remains at the vanguard of international efforts to strengthen the multipolar legal and democratic principles of interstate communication. It will continue to work actively in the UN, including the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter, and will also closely coordinate its actions with allies and like-minded people in the CSTO, EAEU, CIS, BRICS, SCO and other regional associations of the developing world .
