HOMOPHOBIA – A story of interpretation. In a video shot partly with a hidden camera, YouTuber Amixem captured a sequence which suggests that the owner of a campsite is homophobic. A sequence shared Monday October 13 on the videographer’s YouTube channel, followed by nearly 9 million subscribers, which was not without repercussions for the main person concerned, who is now requesting the removal of the video.

Entitled “ We test campsites rated 1 star », Amixem and his comedian sidekick Thomas Deseur therefore visited particularly unattractive establishments. Except that when they went to one of them, the two men found themselves confronted by a manager refusing to give them access to the reserved room.

In the sequence, visible below from 15′this woman assures that the reservation was made by a woman and is surprised to see two men (plus a videographer) show up. Faced with his reluctance, Amixem insists heavily on obtaining the keys to the accommodation he has reserved.

« I don’t know if it’s homophobia or just “Boys you’re boring”, but they don’t want men », Summarizes Amixem about the scene, in the introduction to his video, specifying that the woman who reserved the room works within his team.

Long negotiation

As for the negotiation with the manager, after having indicated for a while that she could not find confirmation of the reservation, she ended up explaining her refusal, declaring that for her, a couple “it’s a woman and a man… Because it was a woman who called.”

“You don’t want us?” »relaunches Amixem. “ Well… I don’t know (…) I’ll have to clean myself and all that », replies the manager, visibly overwhelmed. But who ends up giving in. “If you don’t want us, you have to tell us”says Amixem, taken aback. The discussion then continues around the number of nights at the campsite, the woman seeming to look for a new argument. Before finally handing over the keys.

In the comments, a large number of spectators highlight the good reaction of the duo. “ Bravo Amixem for pushing the conversation with the lady at the campsite”, “It’s really cool to see that there are open-minded and respectful adults in their thirties like you », « Guys, seriously, thanks for showing and confronting the homophobia of the receptionist », We can read under the video.

And “huge misunderstanding”

The story could have ended there. Except that the manager of the place ended up hearing about the video and the allegations against her. She was also moved by West France : “It was my son-in-law’s brother who alerted me. I was in shock”she explains.

She assures that she does not “never been homophobic”evoking a “huge misunderstanding”which was allegedly caused by the conditions of filming and booking. For her, it is therefore a misunderstanding: “It was a woman who called me and made a reservation for a couple. I was simply surprised to see three men arrive at reception! There have been homosexual couples on this campsite in thirty-six years, believe me. And I’ve never had any problems with it! »

Very attached to his campsite, his “ baby “, she assures that she no longer sleeps at night because of the accusations against her. Reason why she explains having written to the YouTuber to ask him to remove the video (or at least the passage where it appears blurred). “ I can’t take it anymore. » For the moment, Amixem has not officially reacted to this request.
