The new tax bill including the tax reductions announced by the Prime Minister at the TIF was presented yesterday by the Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kostis Hatzidakis, together with the Deputy Ministers Christos Dimas and Thanos Petralia.
The announcements included additional measures to those announced by the Prime Minister, such as:
Abolition of the attraction tax for all natural persons. The dismissal also applies to workers with a “block” who are employed by up to 3 employers or whose 75% of their income comes from one employer. The repeal applies to 2024 income that is reported in 2025 and thereafter.
Free of charge for tips up to 300 euros per month via POS, with exemption from insurance contributions. Provision for withholding tax if employer reduces wages and substitutes tips.
Fixed date for filing tax returns, permanently without extensionfrom March 15 to July 15. A graduated tax credit of 2% to 4% is included for the prompt and lump sum payment of income tax. Fines of up to 2,500 euros for companies, organizations and public bodies that delay the issuance of salary certificates or send inaccurate certificates.
The president of the Association of Tax Accountants and Independent Professionals, Alexandros Boyakis, referring to the above changes, he told “Peloponnisos” that the pressure of taxpayers to submit taxes back as early as possible, to promote the tax return to win, falls on the shoulders of accountants.
At the same time, he pointed out that abolishing the professional tax was a one-way street for the Ministry of Finance, as there are dubious taxes on freelancers in force. “They’re taking five times as much now,” Mr. Boyakis said casually.
